Is it safe to wax while pregnant? The answer is YES! Waxing can safely be done throughout your pregnancy, especially once shaving might not be a viable option anymore. Keep in mind, your skin might be more sensitive due to increased blood flow, so be sure to consult with your licensed waxer for recommended pre and post wax skin care.
Towards the end of your pregnancy, consider a bikini wax to remove unwanted hair in the pubic area, especially if you have a scheduled c-section. You’ll want to schedule your appointment several weeks prior to your c-section in order to reduce any possible inflammation in the area. And even if you don’t plan on a c-section, being ready in case of a change in plans is always a good back-up plan. Waxing during pregnancy will also help with new, unwanted hair growth in new places from an increase in hormones. You might also find your hair texture has changed, grows faster and is potentially thicker than normal. All of these are great reasons to incorporate waxing into your personal care routine during pregnancy. Book your appointment now and get waxed ready during pregnancy! Be sure to consult with your doctor regarding any waxing concerns. Please contact Silk Body Waxing Studio for more details on waxing appointments during pregnancy.

Why is it so important to be well hydrated before waxing? Drinking plenty of water leading up to your waxing session will provide better results and be less painful. When you’re dehydrated your skin will hold the root of your hair tighter, making it more difficult to pull out. This can make waxing more painful but also can lead to more ingrown hairs from the hair breaking off instead of being pulled from the root.
Be sure to drink plenty of water leading up to your appointment. Avoid caffeine and alcohol as they can dehydrate you, even though you’re drinking “liquids.” Upon your appointment, you want your skin to be as moisturized as possible and being properly hydrated is one of the many steps of proper skin care.
